Join the OTG crew as we explore the entire Mendocino BDT route. We'll be filming along the way to create a video route guide for the route. Along the way we'll visit abandoned and active fire lookouts, cool off at the Black Butte and Eel Rivers, and explore the expansive wildlands and backcountry

About the event
Join the OTG Crew for a 3 day, 2 night wilderness exploration of Northern California's remote and rugged Coastal Mountains in the expansive wilderness of Mendocino National Forest. We'll follow the Mendocino BDT route by starting in the south (Upper Lake) and working our way north. We'll conclude at Black Butte River Ranch near Covelo on Sunday by lunch time.
The Mendocino NF Experience
- Visit working and abandoned fire lookouts
- Views of the ocean, Sierra, and Mt Lassen (on a clear day)
- Visit old pioneer homesteads
- Visit the Black Butte and Eel Rivers
- Stargazing
We Provide
An unforgettable overlanding experience in Northern California, that entails expert guidance and knowledge about the places visited along the route.
You Provide
Your own vehicle, ability to pack out your own waste (human), fuel, food, water, cooking equipment, sleeping setup and equipment, sturdy shoes for the outdoors, and a flashlight. Daytime highs may range from the 60s to 90s (depending on elevation) and night time lows can dip into the 30s (again, depending on elevation).

Minimum vehicle requirements: AWD vehicles with all terrain tires. Sprinter 4x4s are welcome!
